The junior section of Southwell City Football club offers 17 boys’ teams from U6 – U18 and 6 girls’ teams, ranging in age from U9 – U16. Teams play competitive and non-competitive football in local leagues based in Nottinghamshire. Younger teams play friendly football to encourage development of skills. Younger children play five or seven-a-side format at our Minster Field pitches. Older children play nine or eleven-a-side football,
mostly at The Centenary Ground, Brinkley.
All teams are coached by volunteers who are DBS checked, with an FA qualification in coaching football, and first aid and safeguarding children training.
In 2010, Southwell City FC and Southwell United Youth FC amalgamated to become ‘United as City’ and are committed to bringing quality football to the town and surrounding villages. This was recognised by Notts FA, when the club was awarded Community Charter Status in 2011. In 2013 Southwell City FC amalgamated with Southwell St Mary’s FC to form one Club offering football in the town.
Southwell City is now the third largest football club in Nottinghamshire, providing football to over 340 players in 29 teams aged under 7 to over 50 years of age. Most players are local children and people and the club’s philosophy is to offer football and football related activities to the Community of Southwell and the surrounding villages.
