SUMMARY:Southwell Open Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Southwell Garden Club is holding an Open Gardens event on Sunday the 2nd June between 1p.m. and 5 p.m. \nThis is always a well-attended and popular event in our calendar and you will be able to view 6 private gardens that are not usually open to the public and get gardening inspiration from them. The gardens should be looking at their best at this time of year are located on The Ropewalk\, Lower Kirklington Road\, Station Road\, Riverside\, Newark Road and The Burgage and so within a 2.5 km walk (quite a bit shorter if you know the footpaths) around the east of the town centre. Please also join us at Burgage Court on Burgage Lane for a cup of tea and a piece of cake made by members of Southwell W.I. \nOpen garden passports are available for £5 on the day from Burgage Court and all of the participating gardens. The passport will also allow you access to the Swan Sanctuary at Reg Taylor’s garden centre\, nearby in Normanton. You may not have time to visit the Swan Sanctuary on the Sunday the 2nd June and so make sure you keep your passport safe as if you present it at Reg Taylor’s between 2nd June and Sunday 9th June you will be allow free access to the 9 acre Sanctuary which encompasses 5 lakes within parkland planted with an array of shrubs and trees. Altogether a very tranquil place to sit and simply let time go by! \nThe Garden Club would like to thank the garden owners who work hard to get their gardens looking so good for you\, Southwell W.I. for the teas and cakes and Richard Taylor for allowing access to the Swan Sanctuary until Sunday 9th June for passport holders. \nProceeds from Open Gardens will be donated to local charities and the gardening work that club members complete at Trebeck Hall and other public areas in the town.
