SUMMARY:Country Lore: Autumn Traditions
DESCRIPTION:The Leaves of Southwell Project presents an online talk by Dr. Sophie Hollinshead. The talk will be on Microsoft Teams. To book your place visit the Southwell Minster website. \n\n\nDr Sophie Hollinshead is back\, continuing her series in country lore traditions. In this talk Sophie will explore the traditions\, sayings\, foods\, and folklore associated with Autumn in the countryside. As the nights grow longer and the days shorter\, we will explore a range of seasonal lore and activities from the Harvest Home to the ‘blood month’ of November\, join us to explore some well-known and some lesser-known traditions of Autumn. \nSophie Hollinshead\nDr Sophie Hollinshead worked at the University of Nottingham for over twenty-five years as a lecturer in interdisciplinary humanities within the School of Adult Education. Sophie currently works as a freelance lecturer and researcher\, also as a heritage assistant at Newstead Abbey. \nDonations\nIf you would like to you will be able to make a donation to The Leaves Project from the confirmation page\, once you have completed the booking form on the Southwell minster website.
