I have lived in Southwell since 2000 when I moved here with my late husband from Oxfordshire where we had lived for more than 30 years. I had been a secondary school teacher for many years and a secondary school deputy head as well as being a District Councillor for eight years.
Two of our three children live in Southwell with their spouses and secondary school age children. The third lives permanently in Uruguay, South America.
I am a former Chairman of the Town Council and my particular interest is Tourism, although I have been very involved in many other aspects of the Town Council, including helping to develop the Neighbourhood Plan for Southwell. I hope to continue to develop tourism in the town, together with supporting our retailers through the Southwell Tourism Partnership. I firmly believe that a wide variety of events for residents and visitors will have a direct positive impact in maintaining the economic vitality of the town.
In my spare time, I am a regular volunteer for the Southwell Live at Home Scheme, driving clients, helping at coffee mornings and preparing lunches at the Burgage Court lunch club. I particularly enjoy spending as much time as possible with my family, gentle gardening, quiz events and playing Bridge, enthusiastically but not very expertly!
