About 80 - 100 residents came to Trebeck Hall on Wedesday 12th September to put questions to the various bodies involved with and responsible for water, drainage, highways and rivers and streams in the town. This meeting was organised and facilitated by the Town Council, who, although it does not have any direct esponsibility or resources for any of the above, felt it was important that residents should have the opportunity to speak to the agencies directly and have their voices heard. The representatives who included Notts County Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council, Severn Trent, the Environment Agency and N&S Inland Drainage Board listened to residents and some agreed that there had been omissions in maintenance works. The Town Council has set up a group of 7 councillors who will be monitoring the activities of the agencies of the next few months. As part of this monitoring, on Thursday 4th October, the Council Chairman Beryl Prentice, the Town Clerk and other councillors will be attending a 'Rural Resilience Conferrence' at Kelham Hall. District Councillors have also been invited to attend.
