Did you know the District Council has recently introduced new Dog Control Orders? What does this mean for us?
In Southwell, dogs are allowed on the following town council land:- the Burgage, the Minster Fields, Riverside and the War Memorial Park. The only places where dogs are NOT allowed are in Norwood Gardens Park and the fenced off Toddlers Play area in the War Memorial Park.
The Town Council is aware there have been some queries about dogs on leads. Some points need clarifying and this issue is being discussed at the Town Council meeting on 16th June…so if you want to comment, please come along to the meeting.
As before all dog owners/walkers MUST clean up after their dogs. Unfortunately we know some people are not very considerate and don’t do this. If you notice any fouling anywhere in the town, do please report it to the District Council on 01636 655571 as the location will be monitored and visited by the dog warden. Anyone allowing their dog to foul pavements, verges or parks can be issued with an ‘on the spot’ fine of £75.
