I moved to Southwell in 1998 and was a town councillor from 1999 to 2003.
During this time I served as a governor for Lowes Wong Junior School. In
2003 my husband moved to Brussels to work and we lived there until 2006,
when he was due to retire, and returned to our house here.We have four
children and two grand children between us and it is lovely to see more of
them.
I have left teaching after working as a science teacher in a range of
secondary schools and
finally in a sixth form college where I taught Physics. When not working I
enjoy sailing.
I am currently also District Councillor for Southwell East which includes
Upton. I believe that it is very important to keep smaller communities
viable. We are lucky here; we have most of the services we could want in
the town and we must retain them so that people do not have to drive any
distance in order to get the things they need. As we develop resources in
the town we do need to be aware of the beautiful environment we enjoy and we
must work to maintain it. |
